Gordon Hill becomes our new President.

On Sunday 2nd July Gordon Hill was inaugurated as the 74th President of Tonbridge Lions Club. The Club celebrated the start of the new Lions year at the Oak Tree Barn, Pembury Road, Tonbridge by welcoming Lion President Gordon Hill for his second time as President. Gordon was previously the Club’s President in 2017.

Gordon was born in Heathfield and raised in Sussex where he was educated at Bexhill Grammar School. After a few years living in London, Gordon relocated to South Africa, where he lived and worked for four years before returning and planting roots in Tonbridge in 1976. Gordon met his wife Peggy whilst travelling to Cape Town, where they married in 1974.

Gordon and Peggy have three children: Fiona, Andrew and Robin, all educated in Tonbridge schools and now living in the London area and Tonbridge, and seven young grandchildren.

Now fully retired, Gordon spent his whole career developing and managing commercial computer systems in the UK and abroad, chiefly with Shell and then as IT Director of a leading London law firm. In addition to his involvement with the Lions, Gordon’s interests include riding his motorbike, aviation, astronomy, bell ringing and supporting the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme on expeditions.

President Gordon Hill is looking forward to his second stint of leading the members of Tonbridge Lions Club as they continue to serve the community of Tonbridge during the club’s 74th year.
