At our November Dinner Meeting Lion President Richard Hill welcomed our guest speaker, Mark Henderson of the Red Squirrel Survival Trust.
Mark spent almost 40 years in the city working in the FX markets.
After ‘being retired’ in 2018, a chance meeting with the secretary to the Board of Trustees of the Red Squirrel Survival Trust in 2020 led to him getting involved with the charity.
Having no formal academic, scientific, or conservation background, he quickly immersed himself in the machinations of the UK conservation effort. He is a volunteer advocate, a speaker in schools and adult groups on U.K. red squirrel, conservation, a budding photographer, a fundraiser and project manager. He is keen to create awareness not just of the plight of the red squirrel, but the ever present threats to our native woodland and forest habitats.
