Richard Hill continues as President of Tonbridge Lions Club.

On Sunday 3rd JulyRichard Hill was inaugurated as the 73rd President of Tonbridge Lions Club. The Club celebrated the start of the new Lions year at the Oak Tree Barn, Pembury Road, Tonbridge by welcoming Lion President Richard Hill to his second consecutive year of office. Richard is the first Lion President to serve two consecutive years since our Charter President Charles Addy in 1950/51.


Born in Pembury Richard has been associated with Tonbridge all his life. Part of a farming and butchery family, he grew up on his family’s dairy farm. He spent his whole working career in Agricultural Engineering, based in Kent.

Richard has a love of music, especially singing, performing with amateur musical societies, and small choirs. It was during his time with LAMPS that he met Julie, and they married in 1987. They have two girls, Claire and Rachel, plus 5 grandchildren.

Since joining Tonbridge Lions in 2009, Richard has devoted himself to taking an active role in organising various fund raising and service events in Tonbridge in particular the formation in 2019 of “Musical Memories” a Sing Along choir for those people with or without memory issues.

President Richard Hill thanked the members for their perseverance, energy and commitment during the past year as the Club came out of the pandemic and he and Julie are pleased to be taking the Club further forward in serving the Community for a second year.
