On Saturday 14th September, Tonbridge Lions Club held its annual free diabetes testing day at the Big Bridge in Tonbridge. Despite some early rain, the event was a great success, with over 260 local residents taking the opportunity to be tested. The testing identified 17 people who were referred for further checks, highlighting the importance of regular screening in helping detect diabetes early.
We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling, Cllr. Chris Brown, who showed his support for the Lions’ ongoing work in the community. A spokesperson for Tonbridge Lions said: “We are extremely pleased with the turnout and proud to support our community with this important health initiative. Our thanks go to everyone who attended with special thanks to EMATS who performed the screening and made the day possible.”
The annual testing day is part of the Lions’ commitment to promoting health and wellbeing in Tonbridge. With diabetes often going undetected in its early stages, events like these play a vital role in raising awareness and encouraging people to look after their health.
Tonbridge Lions Club has been serving the local community for decades, supporting health initiatives, fundraising projects, and events that bring people together.
