Tonbridge Lions Programme & Social Committee organised a Club BBQ in The Courtyard at Hayward’s Farmshop on Sunday 10th September. However, a ‘heart stopping’ moment arose just 10 days prior to the event in that the administration system at the planned location, Shipbourne Village Hall, had double booked the date! Fortunately the management at Hayward’s heroically stepped in to save the day and enabled us to host the event in the Farmshop grounds.
Fifty two people attended, including 8 children, who were able to enjoy a delicious and varied BBQ meat, vegetarian and salad selection ably prepared, and cooked, by the Hayward’s Farmshop team.
The facilities at the The Courtyard were excellent and enabled families and friends to have a very sociable and relaxing time together with the ‘rather warm’ weather providing a perfect backdrop. Our thanks to members of the organising Committee and for the Ladies assistance with the provision of tea, coffee and soft drinks. Also, thanks to Lions Neal and Trevor D, plus Club members, for the most valued assistance with gazebo construction and de-construction and supply of the ‘accoutrements’ from the store that made the afternoon a success.
