Lion President Phil and Jo had the great pleasure of being invited to the Weald of Kent
Grammar School Year 13 Prize Giving Award Ceremony to present the Club’s Community
Service prize. The recipient was Amelia Penfold who is the Community Senior Prefect for the
current academic year. She has been instrumental in developing a new, and improved, School Council with particular focus on improvement on a specific school project. This year theemphasis has been directed towards the communal areas of the school including a campaign to fund additional picnic benches around the campus.
Amelia has also had an integral role in supporting the school’s charities by running key events such as the year 7 Girls’ Night In which raised a significant amount of money in support of local charities including the Nourish Foodbank, Sevenoaks Larder and The Hygiene Bank. She has undertaken the role of chief editor for the school’s Maple Magazine working with all age groups to produce wonderful articles and insight into school life.
LP Phil and Jo were able to meet and talk with Amelia and found her very inspirational and a most worthy winner of the Club Community Service Award.
