Tonbridge Lions Donate £6,000 to Support Prostate Screening Event

Tonbridge Lions partnered with the Prostate Cancer Support Organisation (PCaSO) on 16 May to deliver a free prostate screening event for local men. Thanks to donations from community supporters, President Phil Jesson presented a £6,000 cheque to PCaSO to help fund its awareness and testing work.

Event Impact:

  • 636 men received PSA blood tests.

  • 54 men recorded Red results requiring urgent GP follow‑up.

  • An estimated 20 men may have prostate cancer, enabling earlier diagnosis.

  • 39 men received Amber results and were advised to monitor levels.

The day brought together Lions volunteers, PCaSO volunteers and professional phlebotomists, creating a strong sense of teamwork. A Lions spokesperson said the event was “busy but incredibly rewarding” and may have been life‑saving for several attendees.

Tonbridge Lions and PCaSO thank all donors, volunteers and healthcare professionals for their support.
