The Tonbridge Lions Triathlon was held on the early May Bank Holiday, 4th May 2026. Nearly 340 competitors took part, about 90 more than 2025. Unlike the previous couple of years the weather was kind and the event took place in cool dry conditions, perfect for the competitors. This year we were also host to the South East Seniors Team competition for those taking part in the open Sprint event.
More than 50 volunteers from the Tonbridge Lions, Ladies and friends with some help from Rotary and the Swimming Club. We also had very welcome help from The Air and police Cadets. The official report from the British Triathlon officials was extremely good with ‘Excellent’ recorded across all categories. Over 30 Trophies were handed out by the Lions President, Phil Jesson and the Race Director, Trevor Dalladay.
The Triathlon is a very important event in the Tonbridge lions calendar and raises much needed funds for our local good causes. Many very positive reviews have been received from those that took part and it is recognised as one of the most popular triathlon events in the South East. Race Director and Tonbridge Lion, Trevor Dalladay, said that whilst the good weather played its part, having officiated for the last three years the atmosphere and enjoyment by all those that took part was the best he has ever seen. He went on to thank all those that took part and a special thank you to all the volunteers and Cadets without who’s help, the event wouldn’t take place. He is now handing over the reins to Tonbridge Lion Keith Roshier who he is sure will continue to make the event a memorable one.
