The Christmas spirit was alive and well at the Annual Musical Memories Christmas Concert, held on Saturday 6 December at the Methodist Church, Higham Lane, Tonbridge. The church was filled to capacity with friends and families of the much-loved Musical Memories Sing-A-Long Choir, all eager to celebrate the season through music and community.
The concert opened in uplifting style, with choir and audience joining together to sing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, setting a joyful and inclusive tone for the afternoon. This year’s programme featured a delightful variety of solo performances from choir members Diana Gibb, John Quinton, Lynn Price and Gerry Machuca.
Conductor Richard Hill performed a beautiful piece by John Rutter, while Julie Hill added a lighter festive touch with a reading of a poem by Pam Ayres. The audience was also treated to a saxophone performance by TMBC Councillor James Lark. Musical support throughout the concert was expertly provided by accompanist Chris Coverly, ably supported by Roy Everton on percussion.
The event was made even more special thanks to the continued support of Tonbridge Lions and supporters of the Tonbridge Dementia Society, who helped to create a wonderful start to the Christmas season. The Ladies of Tonbridge Lions provided a superb afternoon tea, enhancing the warm social atmosphere that has become a hallmark of this concert.
The Musical Memories Christmas Concert once again proved itself to be a highlight of the festive calendar. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone involved for providing such an enjoyable, inclusive and entertaining afternoon for all who attended.
