Musical Memories Summer Concert Delights a Packed Audience in Tonbridge

The Tonbridge Lions‑sponsored Musical Memories Dementia Choir once again drew a full house for its annual Summer Concert, filling the Methodist Church in Higham Lane with music and laughter.

Organised and supported by Tonbridge Lions, with Lion President Richard Hill leading the event, the much‑loved concert offered a joyful mix of sing‑alongs ranging from Cabaret to South Pacific. The programme also featured poetry, opera, monologues and standout solo performances from choir members Vanessa Simmons and Geraint Hylton, alongside guest soloists Anna Niclaus and Nigel Barham.

Adding to the variety, John Quinton delivered a classic Bernard Miles monologue, while Julie Hill entertained the audience with a humorous Pam Ayres reading. The choir and soloists were accompanied by pianists Peter Wilson and Chris Coverly, with Roy Etherton providing percussion.

A vote of thanks was offered by Lion James Lark, followed by a response from the guest of honour, TMBC Mayor Cllr Kim Tanner. The Mayor joined performers and audience members for a well‑received afternoon tea during the interval and praised the Lions for their ongoing service to the community and for delivering such an enjoyable afternoon of entertainment.
