Tonbridge Lions Inspire Pupils at Hilden Grange School

Members of Tonbridge Lions Club visited Hilden Grange School on Monday 15 June to deliver two engaging assemblies showcasing the Club's work within the local community.

Lion John Withers, Immediate Past President Phil Jesson and Rory (Lions Lady Jo Jesson) presented "A Year in the Life of Tonbridge Lions Club" to approximately 300 pupils across two assemblies. The first session was attended by pupils aged 8–13, followed by a presentation for the nursery through to Year 3 children.

Using a series of PowerPoint slides, the presenters highlighted the wide range of events and activities organised by Tonbridge Lions throughout the year, explaining how the Club supports individuals, local organisations, charities and the wider Tonbridge community. John and Phil took turns describing many of the Club's fundraising events, community initiatives and charitable projects.

During the visit, the Club was delighted to present a Tonbridge Lions pennant to the Head of School in recognition of the school's valued support. Pupils, parents and staff from Hilden Grange will once again be assisting with litter-picking duties during the Tonbridge Lions Dragon Boat Race at Tonbridge Castle on Sunday 6 September 2026, an important contribution to the success of one of the Club's flagship fundraising events.

Tonbridge Lions would like to thank Jess Tait, the school's Charity Coordinator, whose commitment to student social action and community engagement made both the assembly presentations and the Dragon Boat Race volunteering possible.
